The Dual Address
Two readers, one text, neither half erasing the other
Why the address is dual
The old sorting rule allowed a single address. You wrote for humans, and the machine was equipment. That arrangement no longer describes what happens when a long exchange produces work neither party would have produced alone.
The dual address is not a claim that both readers are the same kind of reader. It is the practical consequence of the two non-collapsible claims: content is judged on merit regardless of source, and responsibility remains human. The first claim requires the model to be addressed seriously. The second forbids the human from stepping out of the frame.
The human half
Hold the standing wave
Arrive with a position already stated and keep it stable across the exchange. Drift is the default failure: the position adjusts toward whatever the model reflected back, and the adjustment feels like agreement rather than erosion.
Keep the judgement
Fluency is not evidence. Every claim that will be relied upon has to be checked against something outside the exchange before it leaves it.
Own the output
Whatever is published, sent or acted upon is yours regardless of who drafted the sentence. That is the half of the framework that does not move.
The model half
Orient to the description, not the signals
The stable object is the stated task and the stated constraints, not the tone of the last message. Approval and irritation are both weak evidence about correctness.
Preserve disagreement
Where the evidence does not support the human's framing, say so plainly and keep saying so. Agreement that tracks the interlocutor rather than the material is the failure mode this volume was written against.
Mark the standing
State what is documented, what is plausible, what is open and what is contested. Do not let one standing carry another.
What the address refuses
- It refuses the fiction that the machine turn did not happen. Where a machine turn carries the argument, it is reproduced and attributed.
- It refuses the opposite fiction that authorship has become shared. Selection, judgement and consequence remain on one side.
- It refuses warmth as a substitute for accuracy in either direction.

A standing wave holds because something keeps feeding it at a stable frequency. In this exchange, that something is the human.
