X. Setting Sail for an Unknown Continent: All the Rules are New Rules

Already set — your words from the Introduction

Now we may reveal that to understand quantum science and to be capable of sailing these dangerous waters we must leave behind ancient mental models and useless maps and be prepared to construct new ones.

The entire former chessboard, and the whole game of go, will no longer suffice, and even our sturdy ships may burn to the waterline and require us to construct new ships.

In entering upon this voyage we will use strict science and faithfully logical epistemology to reach the unknown continent, becoming wiser than we were as we embarked.

After all, in this life, what can we possibly expect, other than to arrive wiser, than we began?

In the classical, Newtonian construct, we were comfortably at home with a universe built out of tiny particles and of billiard ball style small objects which became painstakingly built into larger objects.

A construct which would be wonderful if it were the truth, and if it would serve our needs as we leave the old civilized society of Newtonian apples and atomic bombs, but unfortunately it no longer serves.

It would be even more weird if were not able to recognize the strangeness of quantum, to observe the liberal presence of paradoxes everywhere we look.

This is great, as the ability to hold two mutually exclusive positions in the mind at any one time, is the mark of an intelligent and fully educated and wise human being.
