Mutual-transformation terms from the pressure-test, defined once in plain language and cross-linked to the section that uses them.

Receiver
Any structure or force capable of coupling to incoming distinguishable difference and being changed by the encounter. A receiver is not required to be conscious, living, or even complex. A semiconductor receiving a photon, a catalyst lowering an activation barrier, a cell performing chemiosmosis, a brain holding a memory, and a grid converting current are all receivers in this sense. The term names the second party in a transformative relationship: the local configuration that responds to an incoming flux rather than merely being pushed through it.

Energy
The flux of distinguishable informational difference arriving at an aperture, where the aperture may be a molecule, a cell, a brain, a grid, a civilization, or any other emergent system capable of selecting, phase-locking, and acting on some subset of what arrives. Energy is not a substance handed across a counter; it is the name we give to the mutual modification that occurs when a distinguishable difference meets a structure capable of responding to it. Conservation remains intact because the same total flux is preserved; what the definition adds is an account of what the flux is for — interpretation, conversion, and transformation — without making consciousness a precondition.

Transformative Relationship
The encounter in which incoming energy and a receiver are both modified. A relationship that transformed only one side would be a miracle or a collision; a relationship that reshapes both is ordinary physics. The connection between incoming energy and an entity simply confers a relationship, and that relationship does not require a conscious emergent entity to operate. Consciousness is one highly developed instance of the pattern, not its precondition. The term keeps the physics mutual: energy is transformed by the receiver, and the receiver is transformed by the energy.
